The Journal of Materials Science, Engineering and Applications invites authors to submit original, high-quality manuscripts that align with the journal’s interdisciplinary scope. To ensure consistency and uphold rigorous editorial standards, contributors are required to follow the guidelines outlined below. Submissions not adhering to these instructions may be returned for revision prior to peer review.
General Requirements
All manuscripts must be written in clear, concise English. Authors are responsible for language quality prior to submission. Submitted work should be original, unpublished, and not under review elsewhere. Any form of plagiarism or unethical research practice will result in immediate rejection.
Manuscript Types Accepted
- Original Research Articles
- Review Articles
- Short Communications
- Case Studies or Technical Reports
- Methodology Papers
- Editorials or Invited Commentaries
Manuscript Formatting
All manuscripts must be submitted in Microsoft Word format. Use Times New Roman, 12-point font size, and double spacing throughout. Page numbers must appear consecutively. Standard margins of 1 inch (2.54 cm) on all sides must be maintained. Use clear section headings and subheadings where applicable.
Title Page

- Name, email, and phone number of the corresponding author
- ORCID iDs (if available)
- A short running title (maximum 50 characters)
Abstract and Keywords
- Abstract: 200 to 300 words summarizing the background, methods, results, and conclusions. Use a structured format when appropriate.
- Keywords: 4 to 6 relevant terms, listed immediately after the abstract.
Main Text Structure
Original Research Articles should follow the IMRaD format:
- Introduction: Define the research context and objectives.
- Materials and Methods: Provide detailed experimental design, tools, materials used, and processing techniques. Mention ethical approvals where applicable.
- Results: Present data clearly using tables and figures where necessary.
- Discussion: Interpret the results in relation to existing studies and technological relevance.
- Conclusion: Summarize key findings and suggest future directions.
Review Articles should offer a comprehensive overview of current developments and challenges in a specific domain of materials science or engineering. Systematic reviews should follow PRISMA or equivalent standards.
Technical Reports and Case Studies should describe practical applications, experimental insights, or engineering challenges with relevance to material performance, processing, or deployment.
Figures and Tables
- All figures and tables must be numbered consecutively and cited in the text.
- Provide descriptive titles and legends.
- Ensure figures are of high resolution (minimum 300 dpi).
- Avoid duplication of data between figures and tables.
References
The reference list must follow APA style. Authors are responsible for the accuracy and completeness of all citations. Use the author–date format for in-text references, ensuring consistency between the text and reference list.
Ethical Considerations
Research involving human participants, animal subjects, or sensitive materials must include an ethical approval statement. Where applicable, obtain and declare informed consent. For case studies involving human data, patient consent must be documented.
Conflict of Interest
All authors must disclose any financial, institutional, or personal conflicts of interest. If no conflicts exist, include a statement confirming the same.
Funding Statement
Authors must provide details of financial support or research grants received, including grant numbers if applicable.
Acknowledgments
Mention contributors, institutions, or funding bodies that provided assistance or resources for the work but do not meet the authorship criteria.
Authorship Criteria
All authors should have made substantial contributions to the research design, data acquisition or interpretation, and manuscript preparation. The corresponding author is responsible for ensuring that all co-authors approve the final version of the manuscript.
Submission Process
Manuscripts must be submitted through the journal’s official submission portal or via the designated email address listed on the journal’s website. Ensure all required files are included: main text, title page, tables, figures, and supplementary materials.
Peer Review
Submissions undergo initial editorial screening followed by a double-blind peer review process. Authors may be requested to revise their work based on reviewer feedback. The journal maintains a commitment to fair and timely evaluation.
Copyright and Licensing
This journal follows an open-access model. Authors retain copyright and grant the journal a license to publish under a Creative Commons license. All published articles are freely available upon publication.
Proofs and Corrections
Page proofs will be sent to the corresponding author prior to publication. Authors are expected to review and return corrections promptly. Only essential changes are permitted at this stage.
Article Processing Charges (APC)
An Article Processing Charge (APC) is applied only to accepted manuscripts. This fee supports the editorial process, peer review management, DOI registration, digital formatting, hosting, and long-term archiving. No fee is charged at the submission stage. Authors will receive an invoice only after acceptance.
