Journal of Epidemiology, Population and Global Health

The Journal of Epidemiology, Population and Global Health is devoted to advancing research and dialogue across the interconnected fields of epidemiology, public health, demography, and global health systems. In a world facing complex health challenges, including pandemics, aging populations, and growing disparities in healthcare access, this journal provides a platform for rigorous and relevant scholarship that addresses these urgent concerns. It encourages submissions that cross disciplinary and geographic boundaries, bringing together quantitative, qualitative, and mixed-method approaches to understand and improve population health outcomes.

We recognize that epidemiological research today extends far beyond tracking disease patterns. It encompasses the social, behavioral, environmental, and structural determinants of health. Likewise, population health studies increasingly integrate insights from biostatistics, medical anthropology, health economics, urban planning, and global governance. The Journal of Epidemiology, Population and Global Health welcomes contributions that reflect this breadth, offering critical insight into health systems, policy, interventions, and lived realities across different communities and regions.

The journal accepts original research articles, systematic and narrative reviews, brief communications, policy analyses, methodological discussions, and case studies. Submissions that combine empirical depth with policy relevance are particularly valued. We also encourage papers that center underrepresented populations, global health equity, or comparative analyses between countries and regions. Studies with participatory designs, community engagement, and co-production of knowledge are highly encouraged.

Fields of Interest
Our scope includes a wide range of topics within public health, population studies, and epidemiology. These include but are not limited to:

  • Infectious disease surveillance, outbreak investigation, and vaccine coverage
  • Non-communicable diseases, chronic illness, and epidemiological transitions
  • Maternal and child health, reproductive health, and adolescent well-being
  • Social determinants of health and health equity
  • Environmental exposures, occupational health, and climate-related health impacts
  • Health systems research, service delivery models, and universal health coverage
  • Mental health epidemiology and psychological well-being
  • Urban health, migration, and population displacement
  • Demographic trends, fertility, mortality, and aging populations
  • Behavioral health, health literacy, and risk perception
  • Global health governance, funding, and intersectoral coordination
  • Health policy analysis and program evaluation
  • Spatial epidemiology, GIS applications, and health informatics
  • Pandemic preparedness and response strategies
  • Comparative health indicators and global burden of disease assessments

We welcome interdisciplinary and cross-sectoral research that engages with medical sciences, environmental science, economics, sociology, education, and law. Submissions that make use of diverse data sources, including population registries, health surveys, electronic health records, or ethnographic fieldwork; are particularly encouraged.

A Global and Inclusive Platform
The Journal of Epidemiology, Population and Global Health serves a global community of scholars, practitioners, policymakers, and public health advocates. We welcome submissions from all geographic regions, including studies focused on low- and middle-income countries, indigenous communities, and marginalized groups. Regional studies that provide transferable insights, innovative methods, or policy implications are strongly encouraged.

We value transparency, inclusivity, and methodological clarity in all submissions. Authors are expected to communicate their findings in a way that is accessible to interdisciplinary readers, including those from adjacent domains. The editorial team reviews each manuscript not only for scientific rigor, but also for relevance, ethical consideration, and potential to advance public understanding and well-being.

Journal Format and Access
This journal is published online and follows a full open-access model. All articles are made freely available to readers without any subscription fees or access restrictions. Authors retain copyright over their work and grant the journal permission to publish it under a Creative Commons license. Each article is assigned a DOI for permanent citation and indexing.

We follow a continuous publication model, enabling rapid online publication of articles once they have completed peer review and final formatting. Manuscripts undergo a robust peer-review process managed by an international editorial board with expertise across various fields of public health, epidemiology, demography, and global policy.

Authors are welcome to submit supplementary materials, such as datasets, figures, survey instruments, policy briefs, or video abstracts. We also support alternate article formats for field reports, pilot studies, or early findings that may not fit the length or structure of a traditional research paper.

Supporting Evidence-Based Health Research
We understand that health challenges are shaped by political, cultural, environmental, and economic forces. The journal remains open to submissions that address crosscutting themes such as indigenous knowledge systems, community-led interventions, ethics in global health research, the role of technology in service delivery, and the intersection of health and human rights.

The Journal of Epidemiology, Population and Global Health is committed to building bridges between research and action. Our editorial policies promote fairness, inclusivity, and constructive dialogue. We welcome submissions from early-career researchers as well as seasoned experts, and we encourage collaborative and institutional authorship that reflects the collective nature of health improvement efforts.

In a world facing overlapping health emergencies and persistent inequities, there is a pressing need for knowledge that informs not just what is, but what could be. This journal aims to be a trusted source of grounded, impactful, and ethically sound scholarship that contributes to healthier populations and more resilient systems across the globe.
